The Big Question and Answer is introduced with the use of a 8 ½" x 11" two-sided sign of the Big Question and Answer, hidden in The Big Question Box, a simple box you can buy or make with a lid. (Appendix A of the Teacher Binder Resources gives suggestions for making or buying one).
The children say the Big Question Chant, then the teacher or a designated child opens the box and gives it to the teacher to hold up and read to the children.
The teacher and children then sing the Big Question Song: the Big Question and Answer set to the tune of a familiar nursery rhyme. The words and music to the Big Question Song are included in the unit resources. The audio version of the song is included on the Unit Curriculum CD, with track number referenced in the curriculum.
