Teach, Take and Tell is a one year, 12-unit children’s systematic theology for use with two and three year olds. It focuses on twelve key biblical truths. The same Bible story and truth are presented each week of the four/five week units, allowing the children to master the concept and story. Action rhymes, songs, games and crafts reinforce and add variety to this basic core lesson.
How Teach, Take & Tell is Structured
Surrounded by a big world, two and three year olds are constantly discovering new things, yet they delight when they have a chance to master something to use and share with others. They thrive upon repetition and structure, loving to hear and do the same things over and over again. This is how they process new ideas and skills and become confident in them. Teach, Take and Tell allows both for discovery of new ideas and skills through the variety of reinforcement activities, as well as provides repetition and opportunity for mastery by using the same circle time activities each week of a unit; and, by providing materials for the parent and child to use at home.
TEACH: There are twelve, one month units in the curriculum, based upon the same twelve big questions used in Big Questions and Answers for little people, the Praise Factory preschool curriculum, though with much simpler concepts, stories and activities. Each session includes circle times in which a simple key concept, Bible verse, Bible story and prayer are taught using songs, an action rhyme and flannel graph. The rest of the session is spent in play time activities. The curriculum suggests Just for Fun activities for Play Time, as well as three different types of activities, called "Reinforcement Opportunity Activities," which may allow you and the children to think more about what you talked about during Circle Time in the midst of playing. While these activities are optional in the Regular Session Version (60-90 minute session) of the curriculum, in the Extended Version (2 -3 hours session) of the curriculum they become regularly scheduled activities.
TAKE & TELL: Each week of the four/five week unit include resources to help parents reinforce at home what their children have learned in class. These Take & Tell materials include the songs, the action rhyme, the Bible verse, the Bible story, flannel graph Bible story pictures to use with the story and a prayer. If desired, it also includes instructions for making a simple flannelgraph board (made from poster board and felt) which can be given out at the beginning of a child's attendance in the class for the parents and children to use with the flannel graph pictures. The parent can add these each month to a binder for safe keeping and use with their child, over and over again. There is also a simple take-home sheet with the key unit concepts on it, which can be given out together with or as a substitute for the other take home materials.
