The Praise Factory is a six year, multi-age children’s systematic theology curriculum for elementary school children. It is comprised of 104 key biblical truths -- called "Big Ideas"-- divided into 16 units, common to a systematic theology. These biblical truths expand the children’s understanding of the same 12 big questions and answers used in the two preschool curriculums and add four additional big questions and answers. Within each 3-week Big Idea, there is an Old Testament, New Testament and Church History/Missions story presented. Each week’s curriculum includes 8 different activities to reinforce the Big Idea concept and story. |
Story Review, Scripture Verse and Big Idea Games Groups
Games Groups Objectives
The goal of the games groups is to reinforce and make applications of the Big Idea Story/Scripture Verse/Big Idea Concept they heard in Opening Large Group time, while playing games.
Games Groups' Snack-time Discussion Time Emphasis
The Games Groups' snack and discussion time centers around either a discussion of the Big Idea, the story or the Scripture Verse depending upon which game you intend to play with your group. There is one Story Review Game, one Scripture Memory Game and one Big Idea Game suggested for each session. There is a Story Review Discussion Questions Sheet, a Scripture Verse Discussion Questions Sheet, and a Big Idea Discussion Questions Sheet included in each session's curriculum. The directions for all the games are found in Appendix D: Games Resources. Use the sheet for the game you will play to guide your discussion during snack and discussion time, as well as to prepare for the game. The group (or leader) will also choose a number of the Discussion Questions to quiz the other children as their presentation during Closing Large Group Time; or, they can make up their own.
Note on ACTS PRAYER
You may want to have the children wait and pray the ACTS prayer as a breather in the middle of your game or at the end of the game. This allows you to spend more of their attention span on the discussion questions at the beginning of small group time, allows them to burn off more energy and be ready to focus their attention on the ACTS prayer.
The Games (15 minutes)
Three different games are suggested on the Session Lesson Plan: a Story Review game, a Scripture Verse game, and a Big Idea game. When choosing questions from the discussion question sheets for use in the game, make sure you don't only use simple fact questions. Also ask them story meaning and life application questions, as well, since these help the children make more significant connections with the Big Idea/Scripture/Story, its meaning and its application for their lives.
